God’s Chosen People

Schindler’s List is not the type of movie you watch a few times a year with all your buddies and a big bag of popcorn. It’s too real and painful to watch more than once….unless you’re me of course. I just sat through Schindler’s list for the second time. All three hours and 10 minutes of it. Ever since visiting Israel last month I wanted to experience it again. This time with a new found understanding of the history and heart of the Jewish people.

I cant help but be reminded of God’s love for His people and how it must have hurt Him to see them suffer.

“Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off. And if the people of Israel turn from their unbelief, they will be grafted in again, for God has the power to graft them back into the tree. You, by nature, were a branch cut from a wild olive tree. So if God was willing to do something contrary to nature by grafting you into his cultivated tree, he will be far more eager to graft the original branches back into the tree where they belong.”

I look forward to the time God brings His chosen people back into the fold. If you haven’t read Romans 11 for a while give it a go. Think about the sovereignty of God and His never-changing love for His people.
